Introduction
IT services for the Department of Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna are provided on two levels: Via the ZID (Central Informatics Services) and the Department IT Support (it.geographie Team).
The ZID is the umbrella organisation for every IT service at the University. The Department IT Support (it.geographie) is the direct IT support for ad-hoc help searching department members.
In a perfect world scenario, a university member would begin by researching their question/issue, next, if feasible, submit a Service-Desk ticket or dial the Help-Desk.
THEN, after the exhaustion of this "instance hierarchy" they should reach out directly to the Department's IT representative.
The main IT support site = the ZID homepage:

This site should be your starting point for every IT related question. Whenever a problem occurs, please make the world a little bit more perfect and inform yourself first there.
Who to contact?
If you need help, and /or problems arise, you can approach it as follows:
- Take a device with Internet access and inform yourself first. Use the ZID homepage (zid.univie.ac.at), the Wiki (wiki.univie.ac.at) or the it.geographie Wiki (itgeo wiki). You might also consider reaching out to your colleagues or the helpful folks in the department's administration; there's a good chance you'll find the information you're looking for.
- If your issue is covered by the ZID's Service-Desk, please open a ticket here: Servicedesk or via e-mail helpdesk.zid@univie.ac.at.
- Department IT Support (it.geographie Team) is always happy to help you with your IT issues: please open a ticket at IT GEO Servicedesk or in really urgent cases send an e-mail to: it.geographie@univie.ac.at
