He computed his doctoral thesis on the VSC-1, a very old generation of supercomputers. Today, the VSC-5 provides 65 times more computing power. Markus has been head of EuroCC Austria, the national HPC competence centre that facilitates access to high-performance computing, AI and big data, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups, since 2020. Peter Rauscher is a historian specialising in early modern financial, administrative, and economic history, as well as Jewish history, particularly in the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy. Since 2005, he has been a lecturer in modern history and became a Senior Scientist at the University of Vienna in 2024. He has been PI of the project cluster “The Danube trabe. Sources on Austrian Economic History (17th/18th Centuries)” since 2010. |
