About the speaker

After finishing his Ph.D at the Faculty of Physics, Clemens Mangler started as senior scientist at the workgroup “Physics of Nanostructured Materials”. Since 2013 he is taking care of the group's flagship scanning transmission electron microscope and its ever growing ultra-high vacuum system. When he is not busy with the microscope, he is working on improving the group's IT systems.

About the speaker

Michael Feichtinger works as a data steward at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science at the University of Vienna. In this role, Michael supports researchers with data management, the adoption of FAIR data practices and is involved in the implementation of digital infrastructures, such as an electronic lab notebook.

About the speaker

Markus Stöhr has been involved in high-performance computing since 2004 and has been working for BOKU University at the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) supercomputing centre since 2011. He computed his doctoral thesis on the VSC-1, a very old generation of supercomputers. Today, the VSC-5 provides 65 times more computing power. Markus has been head of EuroCC Austria, the national HPC competence centre that facilitates access to high-performance computing, AI and big data, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups, since 2020.

About the speaker

Jan Zabloudil studied physics at the TU Wien, where he also completed his dissertation and worked as a postdoc. That was around the turn of the millennium. In 2009, Austria’s current supercomputer, the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC), was put into operation in Vienna for the first time and Jan was one of the first employees to look after the computer as a system administrator. The team has now grown to 17 people and Jan supports them as Senior System Administrator and Team Coordinator.
