Set:
unmanaged PC
Windows 10
MS Outlook 2019
Microsoft Exchange E-Mail
Problem:
cannot login with d\uaccount, or...
no login window, or...
no connection possible, or...
something in that vein.
Solution:
Click on the Windows "Start" button
Type "control"
Open the system control panel
Search for and open "Mail..."
Choose "Accounts"
Delete the account
Close the "Mail" window
Open your Web-Browser and
go to swd.univie.ac.at and
log in with your uaccount
go to free software
go to Microsoft Tools
right-click on the *.reg file and
choose "download link as"
save the *.reg file.
do the same for the *.txt file.
After downloading the files you can take a look at the text file and read the manual.
Alternatively, right click on the *.reg file and choose "merge", when asked to, click "OK", or "YES".
start Outlook.
Outlook should start normally now.
reboot the PC
start Outlook
Problems after the FIX:
Outlook may just work fine now, or you geht an error message in the form of "VC**** not installed, cannot open Outlook..."
If you get such an error message
click the Windows "Start" button
type: control
open the control panel
open "Programs"
search for "Visual Studio C+ 64 bit" or "Visual Studio *** 64 bit"
right click on the software
click on "change"
click on "repair"
wait for the process to finish
start Outlook
Outlook should work now
