Specialize in research data management at the Postgraduate Center
Starting in October, you can train at the University of Vienna to become a "Data Steward" to specialize in the in the area of research data management at research institutions.
Continuing Education in the Field of Data Management
Data, as valuable research results, require professional management. This is what “Data Stewards” are responsible for. This role is being established not only in the business world but also at research institutions in Austria and abroad as international best practice in research data management.
The certificate course "Data Steward" will start for the first time in October 2022 at the University of Vienna. This English-language continuing education and training program lasts two semesters part-time and links the latest findings on research data management, open science and open research with the tasks of data stewards. Claudia Plant, university professor and vice dean at the Faculty of Computer Science, is the scientific director.

The Scholarly Communications in Transition blog addresses the changing landscape of scholarly communications and the phenomena these transitions bring forth. The point of departure for each blog post are issues, questions, musings, and reflections stemming from a project on Predatory Publishing, a sub-project of Austrian Transition to Open Access 2 (AT2OA2), bringing librarians and employees from various administrative departments at academic institutions together, such as research services. Over a four-year period, the mandate of the Predatory Publishing sub-project is to create an information infrastructure about predatory publishing to provide information to Austrian academic institutions as well as foster the existing community of practice. This objective is accompanied by in-depth research that not only focuses on predatory publishing as an emergent phenomenon in the wake of concerted efforts to further open access, but also as an indicator of far reaching transformations in the area of scholarly communications.
The Scholarly Communications in Transition blog aims to address various key issues related to predatory publishing, to question common narratives and beliefs, situating predatory publishing in a broader context pertaining to scholarly communications, and reflecting on predatory publishing and related phenomena as manifestations of profound changes in both academia and scholarly communications.

wir möchten Sie zum 3. interuniversitären Netzwerktreffen des digital univerity hubs am 15. Juni einladen.
Was erwartet Sie?
Die Projektpartner*innen TU Graz, Uni Wien und Uni Graz veranstalten gemeinsam den DUH MakerSpace.
Der MakerSpace macht es möglich in einem virtuellen Raum (Gather.town) digitale Anwendungen auszuprobieren, zu reflektieren und zu diskutieren.
Wir haben einen digitalen Pool von insgesamt 12 spannenden Projekten für Sie vorbereitet, aus denen Sie sich zwei herausfischen und näher kennenlernen können! All dies findet virtuell in Gather.town statt.
(Bitte melden Sie sich für die Veranstaltung an. Den Link und Infos zum Einstieg in Gather.town erhalten Sie ca. eine Woche vor dem Event per Mail).
- Sie treffen auf eine kleine Netzwerkgruppe (max. 10 Personen), die Ihr Interesse für das jeweilige Projekt teilt.
- Sie kommen mit den Projektverantwortlichen ins Gespräch und können brennende Fragen stellen sowie direktes Feedback vergeben.
- Sie erhalten die Möglichkeit, das Projekt durch eine einzigartige Maker-Erfahrung zu entdecken und ausgewählte Tools selber ausprobieren
